In a recent interview commemorating the release of his 7th mini album, top singer K.Will opened up about the concerns he had during his six-year hiatus.

“I released a lot of songs during my active years, almost routinely releasing albums in spring and autumn and holding concerts in winter. As the number of songs increased, there were many I couldn’t perform at concerts. I started to question if I needed more songs. Nowadays, even if you release an album, it’s hard for people to notice or for it to gain attention. I pondered whether releasing an album was the right thing to do,” he said.

These worries stemmed from the pressure of achieving results. K.Will explained, “Naturally, you think about numbers and rankings with an album. I was very consumed by those thoughts. As someone who works as a singer, I reconsidered what my role is. Beyond any achievements, I realized my job is to release new songs for my waiting fans, perform them on stage, and produce outcomes.” This reflection led him to decide to release the album.

K.Will, who has been closely observing the changing album market, confessed, “I thought this might be my last physical album. The times are changing so quickly. With that in mind, I wanted to put more of myself into the songs, which motivated me. I did everything I could. Each song involved a lot of choices, from recruiting producers to sharing ideas, making it meaningful”, adding, “Since I’ve put so much of myself into it, I am more eager to receive good reviews than achieve great results.”

According to K.Will, he is often asked why he chose to release an album instead of a single. It was burdensome to release an album, especially a physical one, especially as albums these days are no different from goods and CDs are rarely played anymore.

Additionally, if the album doesn’t do well, the pressure will increase, and it might take another six or seven years for the next one.

Nevertheless, K.Will decided on an album, and while he hope more people will notice, his ultimate goal is just to create a better autumn song for autumn.
